CHL Firearm & Ammunition Requirements:
If you qualify with a revolver, you can only carry a revolver
If you qualify with a Semi-Automatic Pistol you can carry both semi-auto & revolver
You must qualify with a minimum pistol caliber: .32 CAL or larger
50 Rounds of ammunition required for range qualification
No steel jacketed ammunition
No steel core ammunition
You are allowed to re-qualify two additional times if you do not score the minimum requirements to pass, but you will be required to have or purchase additional ammunition & target to requalify.
Frequent gun problems such as jamming, bad ammunition, etc... will cause you to fail that round of qualifications, please make sure your firearm is fully operational and to use newer ammunition only.
B-27 Target will be used as shown below
Maximum score of 250 points: 175 points (70%) required to pass. A total of 50 rounds are fired during range qualifications. The B-27 target shown below may be used in any of the approved 4 colors (black, blue, orange, green).
Scoring shots is a matter of counting the number of rounds or "hits" on the paper and adding each with a point value.
Proficiency is attained at 175 points (70%), it is most beneficial to place your first 20 rounds at the 3 yard mark and the next 20 at the 7 yard mark in the 5 point area.
- Hits within the 8 ring = 5 points.
- Hits within the 7 ring and outside the 8 ring = 4 points.
- Hits outside the 7 ring and still on the silhouette = 3 points.
- Hit Headshot (included in 7 ring) = 3 points
- Hits in the background area = 0 points.
